The Detroit Pistons defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 64-59, in the first round of the Las Vegas Summer League playoffs at Cox Pavilion on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s contest was sloppy on both sides. The Pistons (2-2) shot 33.8 percent and committed 16 turnovers, while the Timberwolves (2-2) shot 34.6 percent and handed the ball over 22 times. Detroit took a commanding lead after the first half, 36-17, which included limiting Minnesota to just six points in the second quarter.

Detroit will move on to play the Chicago Bulls in the second round. Minnesota will wait and see who its opponent is for a consolation game.

The Hawks actually held the lead for the final 15 minutes of action and the Bulls never got within a four-point margin in the final quarter. Turnovers really killed the Bulls, as the Hawks won that battle 15-9 while taking 10 more shots than Chicago. Three-point shooting was also critical, with Atlanta connecting on 14-of-35 from long range.

The Hawks (1-2) were led by Trae Young, who tallied 24 points, five assists and two steals. Jaylen Adams was huge off the bench, providing 23 points, four rebounds and two assists Womens Jersey on 8-of-12 shooting.
